March 2005 – Crimson Microsystems, a provider of SDH/SONET systems, adds Asif Iqbal as Vice President of Engineering. Asif is responsible for all engineering and product development activities at Crimson. He brings more than 18 years of experience in ASIC and platform development for telecom, datacom and server markets. Prior to joining Crimson, Asif held senior management and engineering roles at: LightSand, Zaffire, Luminous, Berkeley Networks, Sun and IBM. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford, M.S. from M.I.T. and B.S. from Rutgers University. Crimson Microsystems is responding to carriers’ demand for fully compliant and cost effective SDH/SONET systems to be deployed at the access edge. With its Ruby MSPP-on-a-Chip, Crimson brings to market the first and only fully-integrated single-chip SDH/SONET solution to enable rapid development of carrier-class, cost disruptive SDH/SONET equipment.
