May 16, 2005 - SkyPilot Networks, a leading provider of carrier-class broadband wireless mesh networks and technology leader in the municipal Wi-Fi market, closed a $15 million round of funding and added Bob Machlin as president and CEO. The participants of the third round of funding included previous investors: Mobius Venture Capital, INVESCO Private Capital, SoftBank Asia Infrastructure Fund, Selby Venture Partners, Nexit Ventures, and Palo Alto Investors. This round brings SkyPilot's total funding since inception to $44.4 million. Machlin, a highly successful 20-year telecommunications industry veteran, brings senior executive experience with: AirFlow Networks, Catena Networks, Ascend Communications, Cascade Communications, Coral Networks, Amnet and Motorola Codex. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an MBA from Harvard. SkyPilot Networks provides carrier-class wireless broadband mesh networks that enable service providers and municipalities to rapidly deploy cost-effective broadband Internet access, voice over IP, public access Wi-Fi service, and video surveillance.
