March 5, 2007 – Smalltown, an Internet startup focused on building the infrastructure for today's Local Web, has selected Dan Payomo as Vice President of Sales. Dan brings both a local media and Internet startup background to the position. Prior to joining Smalltown, Dan held management positions with media firms including Knight Ridder, MediaNews and America Online. He was Vice President of Sales for the San Francisco Examiner and Independent Newspaper Group. Dan also leverages experience with high growth Internet companies including Backfence.com and Webstakes (a.k.a. Promotions.com), which had a successful IPO and was later acquired by NBC's iVillage. Smalltown is building the infrastructure for today's Local Web, which will support a network of hyper-local Smalltown community sites equipped to empower local economies and promote the vitality, individuality and immediacy of each local community.
